Pipe Dream is a high-octane fusion of Celtic tradition and rock-and-roll spirit that turns every performance into a celebration. Led by powerhouse piper Coreyanne Armstrong, the band blends thunderous pipe reels, beloved Celtic favorites, and iconic rock anthems into a sound that is both timeless and completely unexpected. Backed by Ryan Waugh, the electric and upright bass-playing ginger in a kilt, drummer Sean Christiansen of New Jersey, and guitarist Bob Hunter, Pipe Dream delivers infectious energy, crowd-wide sing-a-longs, and rhythms that refuse to let your feet stand still. Whether you're a lifelong Celtic music fan or hearing bagpipes in a new way for the first time, Pipe Dream invites you to raise your voice, clap along, and unleash your inner joy. Coreyanne Armstrong, bagpipes
Pipe Dream is the *literal* pipe dream of bagpiper Coreyanne Armstrong to make amazing music with an incredible group of musicians, her dream since picking up the pipes 20 years ago. Until Pipe Dream, Coreyanne was a competitive Pipe Band and solo piper, sharing the circle with friends and family in pipe bands from Hawaii to England, California to South Carolina, and most recently, in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut; within that community, she fulfilled her desire to create something awesome with kindred spirits. Since 2021, however, when she first started performing rock covers solo, the desire to bring bagpipes to larger audiences by fusing epic pipe tunes with popular melodies drove her to explore performing for festivals and faires across the country.
Her first break was being asked to join The Rogues, a Celtic tribal band formed in 1994, followed by teaming up with the Dame of Drones (Chelsea Wells) and Jesse Ofgang for a rock band startup. Finally, in 2025, Pipe Dream was created specifically for one festival, and demand pushed it to keep growing. Starting with just pipes, backing tracks, and a drummer, the bassist rounded out Pipe Dream as a true band, to which guitar and vocals have been added as new members joined. ***Coreyanne has played the piano since age 4, the flute since age 10, and the pipes since the RIPE OLD AGE of 30!
She is a 1998 graduate of the US Naval Academy and served as the Communications Officer aboard a destroyer, and as Reactor Controls officer on the USS Eisenhower. She dotes on her 8 kids, 3 of whom are Pipe Band drummers, as well as 2 highland dancers. Raised in Texas and now settled in Connecticut, she considers herself to be currently living the dream. Ryan Waugh, bass
Ryan is known around Connecticut as the "kilt-wearing ginger with a bass" - playing both upright and electric and bringing down the house on the mic, wielding a kazoo when necessary.
Sean Christiansen, percussion
Based in New Jersey, Sean started playing live music at the age of 9 with the flute, and eventually drumset. He is a teacher and active gigging musician, playing drums for over 31 years. He has been active in the Celtic community as a hand drummer until recently called upon to rock out.
Bob Hunter, guitar
Bob brings his Bass/Baritone voice in addition more than 30 years playing Fingerstyle guitar, and now adds rhythm guitar to the band on the electric. Singing from an early age and tutored by his mom and aunt (both singers in their own right), Bob has been a solo performer on and off for the past 40 years. Later in life he found a home on stage, performing in the musicals “Let It Be (Bill Martin),“ “Jesus Christ Superstar (Caiaphas),” “White Christmas” (Ralph Sheldrake), and “Beautiful: The Carol King Musical” (Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers, Nick, chorus, and closing scene announcer).
In 2023 and following his marriage to Coreyanne, Bob became exposed to the world of Celtic Music where he set aside the music of his past to learn and perform music by Stan Rogers, Dick Gaughan, Dougie MacClean and a host of modern Celtic artists. Under tutelage of Tony McManus, Bob has further developed his prowess as a Fingerstyle guitarist and broadened his use of alternate tunings.
A member of Pipe Dream, Bob augments Coreyanne's other musical ensembles as well (including their duo Hunter and Thistle), manages sound, and contributes on-stage with his instrumental, vocal talents, and often self-deprecating Plebeian humor.
